The 3rd of June – Kilkivan to Miva

This morning I knew my food parcel hadn’t arrived and I needed to find a solution. I could let it go back to its sender, a friend of mine, or try to get it redirected. In any case I needed a food parcel sent somewhere for the next section of the trail. I needed to work out quickly where to send it and how much food is required. I hesitated for some time and studied the maps for a few hours. Finally I managed to get the parcel redirected to a caravan park further north, thanks to the very nice lady at the post office.

It is interesting to observe that this technical challenge seemed like big deal in the morning, running through all my options, but once it i sorted it feels like it was tiny issue.

On another note I think sleep deprivation and fatigue are the enemy of the journey. I decide moving forward to sleep as much as required and see if that improves it.
Tonight I can’t find the national trail camp despite going back and forth a few times on the road.
I find a nice picnic area. It is actually better as it has basic facilities like toilets, lights, a shed and a water tank.

I have a cold shower by the tank. It’s a blessing, it feels so good to be clean and will help to sleep well.
For dinner I compare the water between two water tanks and wonder which tank has the least dirty water. One is less yellow than the other, but that does not mean much.
It’s a shame the public barbecue is not working.
I’m camping near a very old bridge that is under renovation. They have closed the road for that purpose and I expect a very quiet night until the workers arrive early in the morning. I’m delighted that I’m clean and not feeling the sweat on my skin anymore.
